Setting Budgets - Week 6 in Session
District 13 Constituents,
Week number 6 of the session is now in the books. The JFAC committee completed our agency hearings and started setting budgets on Friday. We made budget recommendations for six budgets to be sent to the floors of the House and Senate for final consideration. I carried one motion for the Division of Veterans Services totaling over $34 million. Veterans Services is an important division within our state who assist our veterans and their families by operating three veterans homes throughout the state, our veterans cemetery, including a proposed new veterans cemetery in Blackfoot, and many other programs vital to our veterans. Next week starts with one of Idaho’s largest budgets, our Public Schools.
I enjoyed the opportunity again this week to meet with many constituents including CWI students, faculty, and administrators. They are doing great work while growing at a record pace. Southwest Idaho is blessed to have this asset in our community.
